Does anyone else feel like Hasbro was just using the site to boost sales and forcing Hero to take the site down was all in their plan. The site has been around for about a year now correct? It just seems like with the game being at an all time high and all. I dont know, just conspiracy theories.

This does suck. I SERIOUSLY hope something can be worked out to bring .NET back. As with many of you, I always had the site opened in a window while at work. The suddeness that this happened is hard to take. I mean, did anyone else sense that .NET was just ready to explode? And I mean that is the nicest way. Hero was planning big things for the site, we were picking up members that added qulaity posts and insights, GenCon was this week, the TRU exclusive was hitting shelves soon, and Christmas is right around the corner! I was truly excited to see where the site was going to go. d**n, if it means taking down the minis in the friggin' header, so be it! But I'd be seriously interested to know exactly WHY this happened. If it is simply because of the .NET store, I think the simple remedy would be to have Hasbro legal tell Hero what could and could not be used as products. Not to just kill the whole thing, and in doing so, killing an aspect of the game about 1,000 people have come to love: the tight-knit community of .NET. And in the beginning of all this I was thinking that this was all tied to comments you and Hero made about big surprises on HS.net coinciding with Gencon. I thought it was going to be a merge of the boards with HS.com or something. This was definitely a shocker. No, the big surprise was the .NET store. And some of the surprises Hero was getting ready for exclusive GenCon coverage. Like the rest of you, I never saw the shut-down of the site coming.

If ever something fell during it's peak, it was .net.
But this was just the beginning.
I wish .net would come back, and this would all be a fading memory.
Please keep me informed (I'm sure there are many others as well) about the rallying of the community.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some good news soon. But till that day comes.
YOU CAN'T STOP THE REVOLUTION!!!

Well first off I guess I was wrong I thought the site was hacked and not C&D!
It's good to see some familiar avatars here already....
I;m not sure the boys will be able to say anything but I think I will ask them politely first thing Thursday morning.

But I think the regulars are showing up quickly over here. That's good. If there's an effort to bring back HS.net (or something like it), count me in. Yes, there are already about 18 of .net members that have showed up over here.

Yeah, I think it was probably the store... the rest of the copyright infringement stuff had been going on for a fair while, but the store was recent, and to get hit with a lawyermail (or so I presume) directly afterwards seems to be a pretty straight cause-effect scenario. Really, though, I don't understand why the store simply wasn't removed... it's possible that the letter was overly threatening (scare tactics are common in this sort of thing), or that Hero himself overreacted and shut the whole thing down when just shutting down the store would have done. If Hasbro did overreact in this (and I think it likely, given that companies of this size are hardly known for tact, mercy, a sense of proportion, or courtesy), then all I have to say is, shame on them. Cutting the knees off of your own fanbase isn't any way to make your product successful. I don't think we can blame the game designers for this. They've always been perfectly friendly and helpful. No, it's more a case of being hit with company policy, as laid out by the lawyers.
