That's just the 404 page Hero put up for dotNET. It has nothing to do with the shutdown of the site.

I suspect that I'm going to agree with Reaper 100%.

I've sent my email out to hasbro as mentioned earlier in this thread and will be on the phone with them in the morning I would encourage everyone here to do as that post instructed.

This was my email message to Hasbro: It has come to my knowledge that Hasbro has taken actions to get the heroscape fan site heroscape.net shut down. Heroscape.net was a buzz of heroscape activity. It kept the game alive for me and ALOT of other players. It hyped up the upcoming products, it gave us a meeting place to plan tournaments. It was a HUGE and VALUABLE resource for heroscape gamers and it has now been shut down. This action makes me ALOT less likely to purchase Hasbro products in the future. The easy fix in all of this would be to contact the administrator of heroscape.net and work out a solution to any infringments to Hasbro in order to get the site functional again. Thankyou for your time, A very angry customer

Great message, 'Truth. Hopefully many, many others are sending similar messages.
God, I wish whoever is making these decisions over at Hasbro would stop listening to their legal department and start listening to marketing!

Fantastic message, Finrod! And you raise a good point. Until we know some more specific facts about what actually happened, I think the appropriate course of action is to let Hasbro know we're upset.
Let's wait until we *know* we can blame Hasbro before we start talking about, for instance, publicizing this widely at GenCon.

Just rememeber ...the CS dept is use to taking calls about missing parts or product info...not answering corp policy. They weren't the Suits that dropped the hammer on us. Be polite but let them know you are upset and what are the proper channels to express your frustration. Emails and calls are ok, but if you take teh time to snail mail a letter that speaks volumes with the decesion makers.

Guys I got a note from Hero please Cease and Desist on the rallying Hasbro. Hero says it will only make life very very hard on Rob and Craig WHICH WE DON'T WANT. Rob and Criag have been great to us. Please honor Heros wishes for as sad as it was to see the site go it was he who made it happen in the first place. I am updating my email to Hasbro (which they send you an email letting you do) asking them to kindly ignore my first email as I sent it out of ignorance.

I always thought that .net was in some way affailated with Hasbro....If I knew they were not, I would have told hero the whole store idea was an extremly bad idea. You can't sell things with the Heroscape figures or trademarks on them.... If Hasbro allowed this they would be opening the door to other more serious types of trademark infringement.
If Hero received a cease and desist letter it was probably your typical overinclusive letter. Hasbro probably asked him to shut the site down or they would file a legal suit. I am guessing he immediately shut the site down to avoid a potential lawsuit. I would be interested in seeing the letter...

I am REALLY pissed off right about now. Unfortunately, I'm REALLY hungry, too, so I'll grab a bite, then come back and vent about this tragic f-ing mistake Hasbro's made. Man, that is an echo of my mind, just got home from work. So freaking mad I could barely drive, and I'm so hungry I'm almost crying. I know that hero has backups of images files and i'm sure that he'll be able to help out any new community with that. He may not be willing to deal with a lawyer mess to keep the original site up, but I sure hope he can. As far as I'm concerned, its the member community that will be the greatest loss here. The advance info was fun, but finding out that you could buy Orm's and RttFF at Target was a bigger deal than any advance images I ever saw.

Personnally, I don't see how sending letters of complaint to Hasbro will hurt Rob or Craig. If Hasbro gets a large enough outcry, it will help Hero's barganing position with Hasbro. Again this depends on what the letter said. If it simply said stop selling merchandise then no amount of "outcry" is going to get them to change their minds. That would be like giving away free product. If hero doesn't want the support then I am guessing he does not plan to try and reopen the site. Damn lawyers
