Okay, dotNET is down in the physical sense. But let's not let our emotions completely drive us away from the game, shall we? After all... ...we still have GenCon this week! ;D
And I know I'm not going to be there, so I want to get all the info I can about the "BIG NEWS" Craig was hinting at earlier this month.
So let this thread be a place to discuss all things GenCon HeroScape related. Be it pictures, posts on other sites, opinions about what we hear and see, etc.
Don't let the shutting down of the .NET site destroy the .NET community and what that means to the life of the HeroScape game.
VIVA LA dotNET! VIVA LA HEROSCAPE!

Man, I hate to sound like a wet blanket, Hex, but after this fiasco, I can't entirely agree with 'Viva HeroScape.' My bitter, vindictive, vengeance-seeking side wants the game to collapse in a chaotic pile of steaming retribution. Right now, I don't care what the Big News at GenCon was supposed to be. I don't care about Nerak. I don't care about getting that last Minions and Drones pack, or about Hot Lava Death. If Hasbro did a 180 and let us put the site back, that would change my mind entirely. Right now, I'm too mad even to play the damned game.

Well, I'm taking my digital camera and my laptop. I plan on scouring the whole dealer's area, but I'll be sure to get plenty of pics of HS for sure.

Though personally, I know I'll continue to buy the game. While the community was a huge aspect of why I appreciated the game as much as I do, the game reinstilled in me something I lost a long time ago when my group of high school friends disbanded about 10 years ago; excitement about gaming. While the games we played back then were straight RPG, and a LOT heavier than HeroScape, gaming where I live is non-existent. So to discover a game like HeroScape was like finding the Holy Grail! I do hope that somehow the community survives, and something is worked out between HAS legal and Hero to get back what we're currently without. But I don't want this darkness to overshadow what was a light at dotNET: the presence of HeroScape at this years GenCon.

Ya I'm still going to GenCon but I don;t know how I feel about spending more $$ on HS. I am getting the feeling Hasbro is saying "Give me all of your Ca$h and let me F%^&% you in the A$$ on the way out the door.
Who knows maybe I will find a BETTER game and start spending my hard earned coin on something else.

Now that I don't have access to the threads on .net anymore, I need a little help with GenCon. Anyone know how hard it is to get in if you didn't pre-register? I know you can get badges at the door but I seem to remember a post where someone said to expect a loooong wait in line. And does anyone know if you can get, say, tickets for Saturday on Thursday? Thanks and hope to see some of you there.

At least that how it was at Gencon Socal last year.

The killing of Heroscape.net has kind of put a damper on GenCon for me.

Although I do feel sorry for our Famous Designer friends. I'm sure they had no hand in this - and possibly got in trouble for supporting such a site. With GenCon coming up, I'm wondering how many times they're going to have to say "no comment" to the "What happened with Heroscape.net?" question.

If you can get to the registration line on Wednesday night, the wait will not be too long. I forgot to register for the badge and will be in line after the long flight and a nice dinner. Thursday registration usually is a long wait...maybe...just maybe they will have streamlined the process this year. Newb.
