Whatever we name the new site, can we agree not have this "smite" feature? It's just mean. I agree with Reaper, if heroscape.net is still available to us, we should at least consider it as a possibility. [exalts reaper] I agree with Reaper also, why change the name if it is not required! ... and smiting Reaper for that was just downright evil. He'll find a way to earn them for a damn good reason on his own! ;-) (I would use a smiley here but they don't seem to be active - and, no, the little box to disable them is not checked)

Actually, we don't know if it has to change or not. One thing I do know is this: Hasbro can pull that domain name any time they want to, since Heroscape is a registered trademark. There have been too many cases where it's happened. For example, microsoftware.com, appleimac.com, even mikerowesoft.com (owned by a high school kid who aspired to be a programmer - named Mike Rowe!) got jumped. The first two got pulled because the company who owned the trademark got touchy about their intellectual property and took the so-called cyber-squatters to court.
I'd really rather not give Hasbro that kind of leverage, myself.
(For the record, in the case of MikeRoweSoft.com, the software giant wasn't exactly successful.)

Yeah, but what kind of people would come across Hot Lava Death by accident--y'know--looking for something else? Megamaniacal supervillains is my bet. Do we really want megamaniacal supervillains snooping around here, plotting world domination and flaming pooor spellers? I don't know, man--it's risky. But it would be a sweet name.

I'm kinda fond of HasbroCanFuckingSuckIt.org, but maybe that's more just a state of mind...

We should keep heroscape.net if we can. If we can't: heroscapenet.com heroscapefans.com heroscapers.net (or .com)

while I am kinda OK with people thinking I can take any kind of punishment (and I _do_ have a really thick skin)...... today, of all days, is not the best time to be slapping me with bad karma . For saying something agreeable (and I think important?) - that we should keep Heroscape.net, for lots of good reasons. I appreciate the Exalt, elstree, but based on how many people liked what I said, all I can conclude is that the negatives weigh more than the positive comments. Today, of all days, I'll show my softer side. It kinda gets to me, guys. I've kinda worked my ass off for this community (hopefully some friendly ENWorlders will gift some HS.netters some Neraks at Gencon), and I feel like my efforts (and the efforts of many other guys like Strossners and grungebob and screamingtruth and Imax and Doc Savage) have been wasted, if heroscape.net doesn't come back. If not for Hero's shout-out(s) in his farewell letter, I'd think that many people don't even see non-moderator efforts. All I can hope is that hero wakes up with a renewed vigor tomorrow and feels like fighting the good fight once more, and stepping up once again for Heroscape fans everywhere, and giving us all back Heroscape.net well, goodnight, all - a pretty shitty end to a pretty depressing day. hopefully tomorrow will be better. we all can do our part to make it so.

Nice to see Reaper here. I would have to agree. There are times that I may not agree with what your saying or how you say it, but other times I think your right and I do agree. You have a way of getting some of the gang so fired up, both good and bad.
Yea, I have to agree with Kenntak, Nice to see you over here.
