If hero backs whatever new site...the community will follow.

One other thing glasswalker I'm not sure what your graphical expereince is but our resident graphic designer is hextr1p and he is quite good so if you could touch base with him and involve him from the start I think the site will be better for it.

I say the sooner we can get a permanent site up, the better. This forum is a temp thing at best. We just needed a place that we could discuss where we needed to go and what we needed to do next. I would think that most of the data would be portable from the previous site. I would be very surprised if it is not. I am pretty sure that this site will not be able to handle the bandwidth. So the quicker we can rebuild and move on to a more stable and permanent home, the better off the community will be and the quicker we can pretend that this never happened.
It was all a bad dream.............

Excellent... I am working on getting the site functional as we speak... I read the new site name thread, and there were tons of suggestions... Seeing as we are a registrar, (well a reseller of tucows) I can easily register a domain right now... Let me know what everyone wants... I really like heroscapehq.com and it is an available domain... but let me know what your thoughts are... I hope you are all fine with a somewhat bland graphical design... I am not the most graphically inclined... but once we are operational, anyone with talents is welcome to lend them

If Hero won't give up heroscape.net, I guess heroscapehq.com is the next best choice, IMHO.

It's not that he won't give it up it's that he would rather we wait for things to cool down and by then if we are already established under another name with heroscape.net being forwarded to us we may as well leave it. Bland is fine for now as long is it isn't difficult to then go and incoorperate the graphic work.

Oh one other thing, I appologize in advance if the site takes a second to load... it is on one of my development servers right now, (it should run fine, but it is a slightly slower cpu/less ram so if we hammer it with 1000 people at once, it might take 10 seconds to load at times) I will be moving it to a permenant server shortly... once it is all up and running and I can see what kind of load it expects... bandwidth isn't an issue though, I am connected through 4 redundant 100megabit fibre trunks, and a main trunk that runs at a gigabit... And I will definately get in touch with hextr1p, if he is around... would love to make use of his skills from the beginning... Anyone know if he is on this board yet? if so direct him to this thread (and I will look him up too) Also in case anyone cares, it is going to be built on a Nuke based system (specifically Dragonfly CMS, as it is faster than the traditional phpnuke and postnuke engines, and I like it a bit better) I also have alot of experience coding custom modules for dragonfly, so that leaves the door open for some neat custom features and functions on the new site...

Should we keep Heroscape in the title?

Why don't we round up the name choices and have a vote?

I was pondering offering the same, but with not so good time and programming skills, glasswalker is a better choice. I do have one bit to add: moo-imac:~ frank$ whois hotlavadeath.com Whois Server Version 1.3 Domain names in the .com and .net domains can now be registered with many different competing registrars. Go to www.internic.netfor detailed information. No match for "HOTLAVADEATH.COM".

My vote will be for HSNetters because A. It dosn't have heroscape in the name so hasbro can't pull it for that reason. B. It has a charm that rolls of the tounge and will always put Heroscape.net in our memories.

I like HSNetters also but let's get all the prospects rounded up and vote.
